A 25-year-old standout basketball player from Kearny was killed in violent a crash in Newark over the weekend, authorities announced Tuesday, Feb. 10.
At 2 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 7, Newark police responded to a single-car crash at Route 21 near Riverside Avenue after witnesses reported the vehicle left the roadway, became airborne over a guardrail and fell from the elevated roadway before overturning and landing on Riverside Avenue, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said.
