Tortoise Hatches At Maritime Aquarium In Norwalk Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium has officially announced the arrival of a newly hatched reptile barely the size of a quarter: a leopard tortoise. The hatching, which occurred Sunday, Jan. 6, marks the first of its kind to occur at the aquarium. Westchester Land Trust Completes Easement to Protect Stuart’s Fruit Farm Westchester Land Trust (WLT) closed a conservation easement on Monday, April 16 to protect Stuart’s Fruit Farm in Somers.  The project -- which took a decade to complete -- is valued at almost $3 million. WLT’s partners included New York state, Westchester County, Scenic Hudson Land Trust, the Town of Somers and Somers Land Trust.  The conservation easement blocks development rights on the farm’s 172 acres thereby ensuring the land remains available for agricultural use in perpetuity. Orange County To Offer Youth Hunter Safety Course Teens or youth interested in learning all about hunter safety are encouraged to attend an upcoming hunter safety program sponsored by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Community Outreach Program. The ten-hour course will take place on April 16 and April 17, at the Senior Center in the Town of Deerpark. The course will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on both dates.
