A professional minor league baseball player died in a motorcycle crash last week numerous organizations confirmed on Monday, April 22. Ronny Garcia, a 24-year-old pitcher had recently signed to play for the Class AA team York Revolution before a motorcycle crash in Samana, Dominic Republic on Saturday, Hector Gomez Major League Baseball Insider reported, on Saturday, April 20. He noted that his father was also killed in the crash. Garcia was an international prospect who signed with the Houston Astros' farm system as a pitcher in 2016, playing on the minor league team from 2017 to 2023. …

Caernarvon Township officials are giving out free tickets to see the Fighin Phils on Saturday, April 27. The Phils will take on the New York Yankees' Double-A affiliate, the Somerset Patriots, at 6:45 p.m. Area residents can pick up free tix during normal business hours at the Township building, 3307 Main St. in Morgantown, police say. Happy Hour will begin at 4:45 p.m. with $1-off beer and a pregame concert from Grammy award-winning guitarist David Cullen, according to the team's website. A fireworks show is also scheduled.
